I'm in my final year of a combined CS and math degree, and passionate about applying theory to real world problems. I feel that the best way to effect meaningful change with technology is to place it the hands of capable organizations already doing valuable work.
Moreover, I want to help students contribute directly to the causes about which they are passionate. Personally, I feel strongly about increasing education in impoverished settings, increasing the number of minorities in the STEM fields, and removing barriers in communication between the public and the scientific community.
I am a 5th year student studying computer science and mathematics at UBC. I care a lot about health and fitness, and the various ways technology can improve the quality of life for humans around the world. I am also passionate about education, and helping others learn in efficient ways.
3rd year Computer Science major. Legend of Zelda enthusiast. I originally approached computer science with an interest in AI and a background in videogame design. I've since shifted my focus into cyber and network security, operating systems, and parallel computing. I throw my support out for environmental awareness and diversity in STEM fields. std::cout << "Hello! I'm Jamie.";
I'm a second-year student doing an honours in cs and major in math.
Using technology to effect social change perfectly combines my academic interests and lifelong passion; there is a lot to care about in this world, and finding a meaningful way to contribute is the most important thing I can do.
Aside from that, I write, play piano, and spend most of my money on YA books and custard buns.
I'm a second-year undergraduate majoring in Statistics and planning to do a combined major in Computer Science and Statistics.
Gaming and general tendency to experiment sparked my interest in coding. I am a member of this club to make whatever difference I can to change the world for better by helping people who are doing good deeds.
I'm a third year Computer Science major and Philosophy minor. In my free time I like to play sports, explore the outdoors and have a nice conversation over a glass of beer, while philosophizing about the subjectivity of truth and the purpose of existence. In Computer Science, I am interested in AI, machine learning and internet computing.
I am a Ph.D. student at UBC. My research interests are in software engineering. I've a beautiful parter and a dog, who unfortunately is still back home. Most of my free time is spent playing RPG and reading.
Past industrial experiences include designing, developing, and troubleshooting large backend applications, e.g., an integrated bureau system for the Federal Police of Brazil as well as commercial systems in leading IT companies (Tim Brasil, Sky HD TV).
